Inside 3D Printing Conference : discover the keynote speeches

This year marks the first time Inside 3D Printing has held an event in Paris, and the conference will take place from May 24-26 at Les Docks de Paris.

NOVEL MATERIALS: PRODUCTION, PROCESSING & PERFORMANCE
Plastics and metals are the dominant materials in the current 3D printing field. This talk by Michael Petch will look at lesser publicized materials and related processes. Specifically, ceramics, graphene (and other nano-materials), hydro & aerogels in the context of 3D printing. The current academic research, commercial applications (and relevant patents), production of materials and the possible future developments will be reviewed with reference to independent research conducted for this presentation.

The world seems now to know all about 3D Printing. Articles in popular media are appearing everywhere, extolling the virtues of this wondrous technological ‘revolution’. What the media seems not to realize is that 3D Printing has been benefiting manufacturers and product developers for over 2 decades. For many years, people have been slowly evolving Rapid Prototyping technology into the marvel that we have today. This presentation will provide an industry overview and explore the latest trends impacting global markets and consider how they may further revolutionize the future of manufacturing.
3D PRINTING SURGICAL IMPLANTS
Docteur Achala Del Mel will cover surgical implants/artificial organs of interest along with materials considerations and smart materials. Cellular integration including printing a ‘living’ implant and 3D printing challenges related to instrumentation and software are all part of the discussion.
CONSUMER SEGMENT IN 3D PRINTING
While 3D printing is growing at exponential speed in various applications across the spectrum, the consumer segment is quaintly rising up and is poised to climb the pole position in a few years time. The talk would focus on the rise of the consumer segment over the past and the factors that are playing out to make this the dominant segment. Can’t miss this:  the “Franco-Korean Bilateral Meetings“, in cooperation with the REPA Association, the DGIST and the Daegu Region.

In 2016, Innorobo celebrates South Korea as part of France-South Korea Year. We will be celebrating the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries.

Innorobo will officially host a delegation from the Daegu region, where the country’s largest local robotics sector is found, represented by REPA (an association to promote the robotics industry) as well as 18 robotics companies and a dozen laboratories from the region. These companies work in various sectors such as humanoid robots, medical robots and industrial robots.

REPA and the Daegu region will hold a conference on “the future of robotics”. This presentation will be followed by a B-to-B networking session to enable international players in robotics to talk with South Korean companies and institutions.

Aldebaran’s big event @ Innorobo 2016, with world-renowned Pepper!

Founded in 2005, Aldebaran is based in France and employs 450 people, with offices in China, Japan and the United States. Aldebaran is innovating to create a new world by designing humanoid companion robots and in short 10 years, the company has become the world leader in humanoid robotics. Aldebaran is part of the SoftBank group, which holds 96% of its capital.

Mission On Mars Robot Challenge 2016

 

 

MathWorks is organizing a new robotics competition this year, with the finals held on the 25th May, during the Innorobo tradeshow in Paris. Your mission is to explore the surface of Mars with a real Rover robot by identifying the location of exploration sites while avoiding obstacles. In order to do so you will need to optimize the MATLAB and Simulink algorithms the Rover uses to complete the mission as fast as possible. The challenge is open to all above the age of 15. To participate simply go online and register your team of 2 – 4 people, on the dedicated webpage!

This year, 3D printing turns 7 years old. Until 2009, experts spoke of “rapid prototyping via additive manufacturing”, a set of technically demanding, difficult-to-implement technologies reserved to avant-garde industrial firms.
The expiry of Stratasys’ patent on its filament deposit technology in 2009 transformed the landscape and triggered a revolution that is just getting started.

A new industrial revolution is coming in both traditional industries and those that have made the jump to robotics. It is called “Additive Manufacturing” or AM for short!
Our way of creating and thinking will be shaken up. Technical rationale and parts development will be different, helping to save time during prototyping. The range of materials that can be used in AM will be huge, offering a wide variety of textures, strengths and colors. People with no technical expertise will now be able to produce items and designers will be able to manufacture the objects they have imagined.

Since the advent of the first computers, artificial intelligence (AI) has fueled the imagination of science fiction writers and the general public. Works by Asimov and films such as Star Wars, Terminator, Blade Runner and others present robots with highly evolved cognitive abilities.
In reality, today’s “intelligent” systems are gifted at specific tasks and are even better than humans at some, for example chess. Their talent remains limited to one specific task, however.

When robots need to be out in the real world and not just in fenced-off production lines, they need to have senses as good as or even better than ours. Tactile, vision, temperature, humidity and all kinds of sensors will be in high demand and as people will want robots to do more and more of their work, their price will need to drop.

Sensors are the building blocks of data acquisition systems. They are used to transform the state of an observed physical volume into data that can be used by a device. What kind of future do they have in robotics, and where are they already being used on a wide scale?

Startups : deadline extended until January 20th!

This call encourages young companies from all over the world to send in their application in order to present their project or prototype to an international panel of high-tech investors coming together at the summit.
Our Call for Robotics & IoRT Startups is open to any company:

  • founded in the past 5 years
  • having raised less than US$ 2 million since creation
  • not affiliated with or belonging to a larger group
We are looking for startups in the fields of:

  • Robotics & Internet of Robotic Things,
  • but also in the affiliated industries working closely with robotics companies: artificial intelligence, big data, cloud robotics, electronics, hardware, mechatronics, nanotechnology, sensors
The 5 finalists, selected by our investors’ panel, will be invited to Innorobo on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in order to pitch in front of the Grand Jury.

They will also be provided with a startup booth in the exhibition hall, free of charge, in order to demonstrate their robotics solutions. Their travel expenses will also be covered.
