The choice was hard and heart-breaking – but here we are, the 25 semi-finalists! In just two weeks, we will know the name of the 5 finalists you will meet at Innorobo. Remember : these 5 finalists will be provided a booth in the exhibition hall, free of charge, in order to demonstrate their robotics solutions. Robotics startups from around the world take center stage at Innoecho’s Call for Startups

55 up-and-coming robotics firms from 21 countries worldwide are taking part in Innoecho’s Call for Startups 2015. Judged by a panel of 6 investors from around the globe, the 5 selected companies, each in business for less than 5 years, will be given a free booth at Innorobo 2015.

Innoecho, the company behind Innorobo, Europe’s leading event in robotics technologies, markets and innovations, has just closed the application process for its Call for Startups 2015. Held every year since the first edition of Innorobo in 2011, the Call for Startups gives budding robotics companies from around the world a helping hand and a chance to shine. A prestigious panel of international investors will select the 5 entrepreneurial ventures that will present their robotics projects at a plenary conference during the 3-day Innorobo 2015 event in Lyon, France.

Some 59 applications were sent in to Innoecho this year, with 55 selected to take part in the project screening process. Participating startup companies must be less than 5 years old, receive less than €2 million in funding and not be affiliated with a large group.

Startups from 21 countries have applied to take part in the 2015 edition, whose 5 finalists will be awarded a booth at Innorobo 2015, from 1 to 3 July in Lyon, where they will pitch their project in front of a panel of international investors on 2 July.

This year, 6 high-profile international robotics industry investors will be on hand to judge the 5 finalists:

Answer our call for start-ups!

We are happy to launch our 4th Call for Start-ups!

Who can participate?

Our Call for Robotics Start-ups is open to any company:

  • founded in the past 5 years
  • having raised less than US$ 2 million since creation
  • not affiliated to a larger group

We are looking for start-ups in the fields of Robotics, Internet of Things, but also in the affiliated industries: artificial intelligence, hardware, sensors…
The 5 finalists, selected by our investors’ panel, will be invited to Innorobo
on Thursday, July 2, 2015 in order to pitch in front of the Grand Jury.

They will also be provided with a booth in the exhibition hall, free of charge, in order to demonstrate their robotics solutions. Their travel expenses will also be covered.

Oussama Ammar

Co-founder and Partner – The Family

Oussama Ammar will hold a keynote about the struggles of hardware start-ups.

Oussama has always been an Entrepreneur — he got his first taste of the startup world when he was 12 years old and launched one of the first web agencies in France. He spent a few years working on it with multiple spin-offs and independents platforms, including one of the first online antique shops. In his early 20’s, after a quick detour through the social sciences, law, logic and philosophy at La Sorbonne, Oussama created Hypios that became, in less than 3 years, one of the few open innovation leaders in the world. Angel Investor for over 2 years with 21+ active deals (most of them Silicon Valley-based), Oussama is trying to scale this by founding TheFamily, an accelerator for early-stage startups that supports them from [0] to [1] through education & unfair advantages. He is also a lecturer on Entrepreneurship at Sciences Po Paris. Oussama is a Lebanese-born French citizen, he grew up in Africa and France, worked in Paris, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo and San Francisco, making him a true global citizen.

Carlo Ratti, MIT Senseable City Lab Director, will hold a keynote at Innorobo 2015!

Following a poll within our community, Innorobo 2015 will take place from July 1st to 3rd (and not in the overly busy month of March as for the previous editions).

Carlo Ratti will hold a keynote on our “Smart Cities” track.

An architect and engineer by training, Carlo Ratti practices in Italy and teaches at the MIT, where he directs the Senseable City Lab. Ratti has co-authored over 250 publications and holds several patents. His work has been exhibited in several venues worldwide, including the Venice Biennale, MoMA in New York City and MAXXI in Rome. At the 2008 World Expo, his ‘Digital Water Pavilion’ was hailed by Time Magazine as one of the ‘Best Inventions of the Year’. He has been included in Blueprint Magazine’s ‘25 People who will Change the World of Design’ and in Wired Magazine’s ‘Smart List 2012: 50 people who will change the world’. He is curator for the ‘Future Food District’ at Expo Milano 2015.

Speaker announced : Rodney Brooks (Rethink Robotics) will talk about Factories of the future

Rodney Brooks will held a keynote on our “Factories of the future” track.

Rodney Brooks is the founder, chairman, and CTO of Rethink Robotics, a company that is deploying low cost, safe, and easy to train interactive humanoid robots in manufacturing and packaging applications. He was also cofounder, CTO, and board member of iRobot Corporation (nasdaq: IRBT) and is the emeritus Panasonic Professor of Robotics at MIT, where he was director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) until 2007. Earlier he was on the faculty at Stanford University and a member of research staff at both Carnegie Mellon and MIT. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Stanford in 1981, after earning degrees in mathematics at the Flinders University of South Australia. He is a member of both the US National Academy of Engineering and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and also a Fellow of the IEEE, ACM, AAAI, and AAAS.
