Institut

The Jules Verne Technology Research Institute is a mutualised industrial research centre dedicated to advanced manufacturing technologies.

Focusing on the requirements of the strategic industrial sectors – aeronautics, automotive, energy and naval – the IRT team carries out collaborative research based on an alliance between the finest industrial and academic resources available in the manufacturing domain. Together, they work on the creation of innovative technologies that will be rolled out to factories in the short and medium terms in three major areas: Integrated product/process design | Innovative processes | Flexible and smart production systems. In order to provide global solutions up to and including the production of full-scale demonstration models, IRT Jules Verne utilises a wide array of exclusive equipment.

Products & Services @Innorobo

  • Cable driven parallel robots : cheaper and less bulky than the industrial serial robots industrial, they are a real opportunity to perform several industrial operations for large parts, in big volumes and in congested areas, by means of a man/machine interface with augmented reality.
  • Autonomous mobile robots for industry : Traditional automated production systems are usually sensible to disturbances which can conduct to a halt of the whole production unit.  The IRT Jules Verne develops key enabling technologies, with its industrial partners, on mobile robotic entities capable of cooperation and collaboration within the workshop floor in order to increase flexibility and reconfigurability of the overall production unit.

Innovation

Cable driven parallel robots :

  • Adding augmented reality in the man/machine interface allowing the operator to use intuitively the technology, with a colour code for instance.
  • Reliability of the robot models and the simulator, in order to assess the capacity of the robot to carry out heavy loads, in extreme outdoor environments and in large scale areas.
  • Better control of the pieces, traceability, ergonomics
  • Maintenance of the system: better accessibility to mechanical and electronical pieces as the motors, gearheads and winches are mounted to the floor.

Autonomous mobile robots for industry:

  • 3D perception unit for real-time obstacle detection and identification
  • Solutions for mobility and navigation adapted to industrial environments
  • Solutions for the supervision and coordination of autonomous mobile entities for cooperation and collaboration M2M, H2M and M2H as well as for the dynamic reconfiguration of the production facility and of production plans.
